Devils Tower

Now here's a tee you could get some distance off of!

Devils Tower National Monument, the mountain from Close Encounters of the Third Kind, is actually in northeastern Wyoming. It was named our nation's first National Monument by President Teddy Roosevelt in 1906. Scientists theorize that Devils Tower is the core of a volcano exposed by millions of years of erosion from the nearby Belle Fourche River and the harsh Wyoming weather.

If you get a strange, inexplicable desire to build a model of it (as we did), skip sculpting the mashed potatoes and destroying your basement, and just make one on your course!

The one in the picture was built using a selected circle 190 yards in diameter and then filling it with the Fill Relief Tool set to a "Rel" height of 200 yards high, smooth at 10.

Who knows? Maybe aliens and Hollywood actors will start trying to get tee times at our course.
